π¬ How It Works
Bromadiolone is a second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide. It inhibits Vitamin K epoxide reductase β the enzyme that allows rodents to recycle Vitamin K for blood clotting. Without clotting ability, rodents die from internal hemorrhage 4β7 days after consuming a lethal dose. Second-generation anticoagulants like bromadiolone are effective against rodents that have developed resistance to first-generation anticoagulants (warfarin, diphacinone).
Single-feeding efficacy: Unlike first-generation anticoagulants, a rodent typically only needs to consume a lethal dose in a single feeding session. This is a significant advantage in bait-shy situations.
βοΈ Mixing & Application Rates
No dilution β ready-to-use bait blocks. Place in tamper-resistant bait stations only.
β οΈ Safety & Precautions
- Second-generation anticoagulants are highly toxic to dogs, cats, raptors, and predatory mammals β secondary poisoning risk is significant
- EPA requires tamper-resistant bait stations for all exterior rodenticide use (2023 regulations)
- Keep children and pets away from all bait stations
- If a pet consumes rodenticide, contact ASPCA Poison Control (888-426-4435) immediately β Vitamin K1 is the antidote
- Wear gloves when handling bait β dispose of dead rodents in sealed bags
