Yearly limits on turf

The turf restrictions cap broadcast use at 13.25 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft per calendar year. The same section also lists a combined total of 6 oz per 1,000 sq ft per year, so check both before planning repeat sprays.[1]

The product is not for sale or use in Nassau and Suffolk counties of New York.[1]

Where it is used

Broadcast it in 2 to 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq ft. Avoid mowing for 24 hours afterward and don't irrigate until the spray has dried.[1]

For fairy ring, aerating first may help, and the label says to irrigate the area before and after treatment. A nonionic surfactant improves thatch penetration.[1]

For rates above 3.0 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft, stay 100 feet from waterways that drain directly into estuaries. A vegetated buffer strip cuts runoff to ponds and streams.[1]

The label reports excellent turf safety on Kentucky bluegrass, ryegrasses, fescues, bentgrass, Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass and St. Augustine grass.[1]

Safety and environmental hazards

People

Signal word CAUTION: harmful if swallowed or absorbed through skin. Applicators wear long sleeves, long pants, shoes, socks and chemical-resistant gloves.[1]

Pets

The label has no pet-specific statement. It says not to apply in a way that will contact people, directly or through drift.[1]

Bees and pollinators

The label has no bee or pollinator hazard statement.[1]

Fish and water

Toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates, with a high potential to reach surface water in runoff for months. Avoid spraying when rain or irrigation is expected within 48 hours.[1]

Resistance

Flutolanil is a Group 7 SDHI. The label advises rotating with fungicides from different groups that control the same diseases, or tank mixing with them, to slow resistance.[1][2]

Common questions

How much flutolanil for brown patch?
2.2 to 3.25 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft as a preventive, or 4.4 fl oz on turf with active brown patch.[1]
Does flutolanil control dollar spot or Pythium?
Neither is on the turf chart. The label covers Basidiomycete diseases such as Rhizoctonia patches, fairy ring and snow mold, and allows tank mixes for other diseases.[1]
How long before workers can re-enter a treated field?
The restricted-entry interval for farm and nursery uses is 12 hours.[1]
