One registration, several labels
EPA Reg. No. 2724-478 is a master label. Sublabel 1 is Mavrik Aquaflow for commercial greenhouse, nursery and landscape plants. Sublabel 2, covered here, is sold as Mavrik Perimeter or Yardex Insecticide for perimeters, turf and ornamentals.[1]
Sublabel 2 is not for plants or sod grown for sale, seed production or research. It is limited to lawns, turf and plants grown outdoors for looks or climate modification. Millipedes, chiggers, Asian lady beetles and root weevils are excluded in California.[1]
Where it is used
For ticks, start in spring and spray the whole area where ticks could be, such as path edges, tall grass and brush. Keep treating until frost, since animals can carry new ticks in.[1]
For fleas and dog ticks around pets, spray kennels, runs, yards and other places your pets spend time, never the pets themselves.[1]
It works mainly by contact, so thorough coverage matters. The label says residues can keep controlling some pests for a week or longer, with a typical 28-day retreatment interval around buildings.[1]
Don't spray when wind is over 15 mph, and limit spray on driveways, sidewalks and patios to spot or crack-and-crevice treatment.[1]

Safety and environmental hazards
People
Signal word CAUTION: harmful if swallowed, absorbed through the skin or inhaled, and causes moderate eye irritation. Handlers wear long sleeves, long pants, shoes, socks and chemical-resistant gloves.[1]
Pets
Keep unprotected people, children and pets out until the spray dries. The label warns some sensitive pets that eat or touch freshly treated plants may vomit or have trouble breathing.[1]
Bees and pollinators
Highly toxic to honey bees hit by the spray itself, but the label says dried residues are non-toxic and non-repellent to them. Spray when bees are not foraging.[1]
Fish and water
Toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Stay 25 feet from lakes, ponds and streams (100 feet near marine or estuarine water), and don't spray when rain is due within 24 hours.[1]
Common questions
- How much Mavrik Perimeter per gallon of water?

- Is tau-fluvalinate safe for bees?
- Not as a wet spray: the label calls it highly toxic to honey bees hit directly. Once dry, the label says residues are non-toxic to them, so spray outside foraging times.[1]
- How often can I spray Mavrik Perimeter?
- No more than once every 7 days, 4 times a month, or 12 times a year.[1]
